Aki Moon

Stories between the stars – and deep within the human soul.

Behind the pen name is an author who doesn’t explain science — he experiences it, through characters who are curious, fallible, and dependent on one another.

His science fiction takes shape at the intersection of space exploration and information theory, philosophy of language and philosophy of mind, engineering and human curiosity. Stories where the physics holds, the technology works — and everything goes wrong anyway. Research vessels chart unknown sectors. Colonies fight for their future. And somewhere in between, ordinary people wonder why they came here at all.

Feodora — Burning Orbit is his first novel — but the world behind it belongs to an author who looked long and carefully before he wrote. When gravitational anomalies tear ships from orbit, Feodora sets out with her crew to find the cause — and ends up stranded in a foreign solar system with no way back. The novel is a story of scientific curiosity and friendship under extreme conditions, of alien life and the physics of the unknown. It is the first volume of the Anomalies Cycle, a hard SF trilogy. An English edition is in preparation.

Aki Moon moves between his desk and Museum Island — from antiquity to spaceflight, it’s a short leap of imagination. He photographs, travels, and believes that distance is the shortest path to understanding. He lives in Berlin.

Aki Moon – or maybe not

I am Aki Moon – or maybe not.

Why a pen name? I want to keep my family out of disputes of a political or cultural nature. Anyone who tells stories today can quickly rub people the wrong way – and my worst fear is that one day people show up at my door with impossible demands. Just because I enjoy writing.

If, despite careful research, any inaccuracies or unfortunate phrasings have slipped through – I welcome any feedback.

My stories are written entirely by me, without AI writing tools. My tools: Papyrus, languagetool.org, Wikipedia, and Ecosia. Cover artwork is created by Franky from zbo-pankow.de using Blender. For the occasional social media experiment, I allow myself SwarmUI – open source, MIT License.

The photos here are mine. And honestly – does this look like AI to you?
